Stillness and Flow: A Photography/ Tai Chi Workshop
with Doug Beasley
Big Island, Hawaii
June 4 –10, 2007
Come to the Big Island of Hawaii for a unique workshop which combines photography and the ancient art of taiji chuan. Practice the ancient art of taiji & the healing art of chi quong with Sifu Peter Tam Hoy. Travel to the volcano, the rugged Puna coast, the Hamakua rain forest and points unknown. “Ground” yourselves by doing basic exercises to “root” and “sink deeply” to these places.
In doing Taiji the classics say.... “Be still as a mountain and move like a great river.” In the stillness and sacredness of the Big Island of Hawaii, and by doing taiji, we will experience and possibly record the power and overwhelming majesty of a great river in the places we visit.
Akiko's Buddhist Bed and Breakfast, located along the beautiful and lush Hamakua Coast 15 minutes North of Hilo, will be our home during the workshop. Everyday we will embark on a new adventure to explore and photograph together. This will be an unforgettable journey and a very unique way to experience Hawaii. Everyone is welcome. You need not be a Buddhist, just bring an open heart and a willingness to be transformed by the exploration of stillness and flow through photography in this enchanting place.
Extra days at Akiko's can be arranged before and after the workshop. To find out more about Akiko's Bed and Breakfast and Hawaii, please visit www.alternative-hawaii.com/akiko
