China : Spirit of the Middle Kingdom
The Linden Center, Yunnan Provence, SouthWest China,
with Doug Beasley, February 15 – 28, 2011
Photography is the art of both recognizing and honoring life in a single moment. That encapsulated moment becomes transcendental — a frozen still image made in the blink of an eye. Immediately, this photo becomes the past, forever holding a memory in time. The world moves and changes so swiftly, that these instances wash away as if the paint had never dried on what’s right in front you. China embodies this revolution.
But the canvas has never really faded. Only painted over, like a hundred flowers covered by snow. Allow us to show you the layer beneath China. Journey with us to a place where the photo is still vibrant, and the romantic China lives on. Join us where the past does not wash away and a moment is never fleeting.
The Linden Centre is proud to host a photography program for the avid photographer of landscapes, architecture, people and cultural events. Led by an acclaimed photographer Douglas Beasley, this program will take photography principles, skills and creativity to a new level in the picturesque regions of Dali, Lijiang and the Yunnan rice terraces.
The Linden Centre offers the intrepid traveler a true immersion into authentic China. Guests reside in an expansive and luxurious courtyard home in Xizhou, a pristine village in SouthWest China’s Yunnan Province. The facility is a nationally protected heritage site that we have restored to its former dynastic elegance. In the foothills of the Himalayas, guests enjoy a year-round spring climate and direct access to rich, undisturbed cultures in a true melting pot of the region. Guests touch the ‘old’ China that is elusive to most visitors, and leave with enriching experiences that last a lifetime.
