Vision Quest

Refining and Re-defining Your Photographic Vision

Split Rock Arts Program, Twin University of Minnesota, Minneapolis MN, with Doug Beasley, June 1518, 2008

This workshop is currently full.

Boat, Norway. A Self Portrait.

Re-energize and re-awaken your creativity by exploring photography as an expressive, rather than technical, pursuit. Become a better photographer by using your photography as a tool for deeper awareness through self-reflection and self-expression.

This workshop is a unique opportunity to look at ways to deepen your vision and find new paths or creative outlets for your photography. We will explore the notion of what it means to be ‘stuck’, and how this fertile ground can be used to explore who you are as an artist and reawaken what your photography is about and how you can use this new information to move your art and/or career forward. We will also look at our approach to photography and why we choose certain subjects over others and if those decisions are in our best interests. Personal and artistic growth will be fostered on many levels.

Inspiration will be sparked by a balance of conversation, readings, writing excercizes, portfolio reviews, and instructor presentations. Daily photographic assignments and exercises will be a big part of this experience, with individual attention given. Afternoons will usually find us ‘on location’ exploring our vision and completing assignments on field trips with Doug. One on one and small group pairings will create a progressive and dynamic environment for learning. Fun, laughter and introspection are to be expected.
